Reflection of our Presentation

Now that we've finished our presentation, we would like to look at the ways we could improve our presentation and NPO itself from the feedback from our classmates.

--------------------------------------------------

Ways to Improve Our Presentation

The Question: Write a few ways that you think the presentation could have been improved

A.01: Making a Promotion Video

A.02: More Jokes

A.03: The Survey Results could be Shorter ×2

A.04: The End is Insane

As you can see, we should have presented the survey analysis part a little shorter and we definitely agree on this.  To accomplish this we should have used one set of slides answering the questions, not one by one for each type of question. This would have probably shortened the time by half.

There were two results that kind of said the opposite things, those being 'more jokes', and 'the end is insane' (A:02 and A:04).  The end is referring to how we said we wanted to rule the world.  From this, we could tell that the amount of joking that was considered 'a sufficient amount' varied between people.  If we were to do the presentation again, then we would like to try to find the best balance of joking and not.

Making a promotion video was one of the things that we had thought about doing. However, due to the tight time schedule and lack of knowledge of computer applications, we decided not to do one instead of creating one that was bad in quality. We thought it was better to do one that was reasonable to good quality.

Ways to Improve Our NPO

The Question: What advice would you give the presenter for tweaking the plan for the NPO to make it even better?

A.01: It was very good. Especially its name was very cool.
We were glad that people thought our NPO name COEUS was good. We were a little afraid that some people wouldn't get the meaning behind it, but we were glad that people understood it.

A.02: Who will be talking at the seminars? How will these people be recruited?
These were two things that are quite difficult. However, we had an idea to ask 'them' over social media.  The reason why we think this would work is that the people who we recruit would be educators in the first place, so we hope that they would help us.

A.03: Overall great planning but probably need further planning in terms of planning media and channels.
We got the YouTube idea from a channel called Kurzgesagt, which makes videos about education. We did not introduce this channel in our presentation, but what we have in our heads is basically similar to their content. Check them out, they're great!

A.04: I think it is good enough, but maybe you can have an event that attracts people who are not interested in AI.
We were hoping that videos could attract people who are not interested in AI as well. As we said above, Kurzgesagt makes engaging videos, which show up on many people's feeds.  It also has fans that have a diverse amount of followers.

A.05: Good enthusiasm amazing presentation.
Thank you! This comment really means a lot to us! <3

A.06: I'm curious to see what you do in the kids camps?
We would like to do activities talking about AI, whilst playing games and programming computers. We will also try to have things like engaging with robots and having fun times watching AI films with discussion activities.

A.07: If you are educating every generation, I think it would be better if they had a program for the elderly too.
We did not talk about the elderlies. That was our mistake. One idea is that we introduce how AI in elderly care homes is a wonderful idea. A big positive aspect of AI in elderly care is that the elderly themselves would not have to feel physical nor psychological burden toward the people taking care of them.
We were also hoping that at the camps and with the videos, the children watching would show their family members, which would include their grandparents as well.  We could also add Seminars for weekdays that would primarily focus on working with phones and computers for the elderly. Here we would talk about AI today.

A.08: I would say that hosting events was great. However, I was wondering how you would bring people who aren't interested in AI. If they are not interested, they wouldn't want to take their time out of their life to learn about AI.
As we said above, on answer number 04, Kurzgesagt is a channel with a large number of diverse followers and uses videos to get people who aren't interested in science to learn about it as well.  We would like to do this for AI and would also like to use a short video format so that people can learn easily in their free time.

Thank you for listening to our presentation!  We would also be thankful if you could leave a comment about what you thought, or what you think you could improve!

Comments

  1. I'm impressed that you addressed the feedback so comprehensively and sincerely. I believe the comment "There should have been more jokes" may have been a joke, by the way. There were more than enough jokes. I felt that the name of your NPO, COEUS, was suitable after hearing your clear explanation of how it came about during your presentation. I agree that your presentation was given with enthusiasm and it was extremely well prepared.

To be honest, although there have been students in this seminar who chose the topic AI in the past, they tended only to deal with the more sensationalized and stereotypical aspects of its possible dangers. You weren't afraid to dig deeper and try to understand some of the science behind it, which is commendable. That made it possible for you to create an NPO that has a compelling raison d'etre, goals, and concrete activities. You didn't simply dwell on the dangers but also looked seriously at its many positive aspects. Well done!
